Ingrown Toenail Surgery

Ingrown toenails can be caused by incorrect cutting of toenails, trauma, fungal infection but most commonly by genetic factor.

Initially the offending border can be excised by our skilled podiatrist but for chronic recurrent ingrown toenails that often cause bacterial infection you may need surgical intervention. The offending border of the ingrown toenail is permanently removed by killing the root utilizing chemicals.

The surgical site needs to be kept dry, clean, and intact for 24-48 hours. It usually takes a couple of weeks for the surgical site to heal during which time ambulation is allowed but it is recommended to stay off of your feet as much as possible to allow for a faster recovery.
