What is a tailor's bunionette?

Tailor's bunionette is dislocation of the joint on the side of the 5th metatarsal (pinky toe).

What causes a tailor's bunionette?

Tailor's bunionette is caused by either genetics or prolonged pressure to the outside of the foot at the 5th metatarsal (pinky toe).

How to treat a tailor's bunionette?

Treatments include:

  • Wearing comfortable and roomy shoes

  • Icing the area

  • Pain medications

  • Orthotics

  • Surgery (in severe cases)

How to prevent a tailor's bunionette?

Wearing shoes with enough room around the toes. Making sure that there is no prolonged pressure against the big toe. Using orthotics to correct any improper foot posture.
